A background in fashion design is a major influence on the glass pieces I make – whether it is about the colour, texture and pattern or a suggestion of form. The style of a functional vessel or piece of jewellery can be affected by my selection of raw materials. The inclusion of metals, enamels or oxides also play their part in determining the outcome of the final artwork.
I really love the contradictions of fashioning glass as a medium. It is rigid and fragile, solid, yet amorphous, challenging and compelling.
